The new £14.5 million Bulmershe Leisure Centre, managed by Places Leisure in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to support health, fitness, and community well-being. Featuring a 25-metre six-lane swimming pool, teaching pool, gym, sports hall, studios, and café, the centre is a vital resource for the local area. Recognising the importance of longevity and efficiency in public sports facilities, Flick Lighting was invited by Barrie Beard Electrical Contractors to work alongside Pellikaan Construction to develop and deliver a tailored lighting solution.
Flick specified its high-performance STIRLING and LIBERTY 4 SPORTS luminaires across key areas including the gymnasium, studios, communal spaces, and both pools. The LIBERTY fittings, tested to meet DIN 57710 Part 13 ball impact resistance standards, are ideally suited for sports environments, able to withstand the impact of a size 4 football at 60 km/h. With efficacies of 168 Lm/W for LIBERTY and 105 Lm/W for STIRLING, the installation offers not only durability but exceptional energy efficiency—ensuring the leisure centre remains both cost-effective and sustainably lit for years to come.
