Coventry Hospital

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is one of the UK’s largest teaching Trusts responsible for managing two major hospitals in Coventry and Rugby, which between them serve a population of over a million people.

The Brief

Over time, the original lighting units in the doctor’s surgeries built in the Coventry hospital had begun to break down, becoming unfit for purpose at a time where the hospital needed it’s facility to perform at its full potential as they helped to fight a global pandemic. Flick Lighting was briefed on the situation and tasked to design and manufacture a solution.

The Solution

Our experienced team at Flick Lighting was able to produce bespoke LED lighting trays in four sizes in standard and DALI dimming. The products were then supplied by Flick Electrical Wholesale, who acted swiftly during the difficult lockdown period to help deliver the project.

Flick chose to retrofit these bespoke trays as the old light fittings couldn’t be removed as they’d been built into the ceiling of the surgeries. With the Flick team based locally in Birmingham’s city centre, the team were able to swiftly manufacture products in house, supply and fit them quickly, all within budget.

The new LED lighting trays, fitted across all four floors of the building, will reduce energy consumption by 45%, lessen the need for maintenance in the next 5 years and improve the lighting levels across the surgeries.
